Lazarus is a horror-thriller miniseries created by Harlan Coben and Danny Brocklehurst for Amazon Prime Video, starring Bill Nighy, Alexandra Roach, and Sam Claflin. The series premiered on 22 October 2025.
The plot follows forensic psychiatrist Joel Lazarus (Claflin), who returns to his family home after the supposed suicide of his estranged father, Jonathan (Nighy). Still haunted by the unresolved murder of his sister 25 years earlier, Joel soon begins to sense that his father's death may not be what it seems.
Joel starts experiencing strange and unsettling visions that push him to re-examine his father's old case files. In doing so, he uncovers several cold cases that may hold answers about both his father's mysterious death and his sister's long-unsolved murder.
In February 2024, Amazon MGM Studios announced that they would produce the series in partnership with Harlan Coben’s Final Twist Productions. Coben and Danny Brocklehurst served as writers and executive producers. Sam Claflin also joined Nicola Shindler and Richard Fee as executive producers for Quay Street Productions. Wayne Che Yip directed the first two episodes and acted as an executive producer, with Matt Strevens serving as the series producer.
Bill Nighy and Alexandra Roach were confirmed to star alongside Claflin in February 2024. Later, in June 2024, additional cast members such as Roisin Gallagher, David Fynn, Karla Crome, Kate Ashfield, and Curtis Tennant were added.
Filming began in Manchester in February 2024, with additional scenes shot in Morecambe. Production officially wrapped with a celebration event in Manchester on 21 June 2024.
The series received mixed reviews from critics. Rotten Tomatoes reported a 42% approval rating based on 19 reviews, while Metacritic assigned it a score of 53 out of 100 from 13 critics, indicating “mixed or average” reactions.
